I am making a last minute wedding cake, 2 tiers bottom tier dummy. Bride wants top tier to cut definitely with buttercream icing. Since this is so last minute, I'm thinking about covering the bottom tier with fondant to save time, trimming with ribbon. Has anyone mixed fondant and buttercream tiers, will they look mismatched? This girl is driving me crazy!
Surely, it will take less time to ice a dummy in buttercream than fondant? I would do both tiers the same, so if she wants buttercream, then both tiers in buttercream.
