hi i have been asked to make a bird house cake with a robin sat on a perch. im ok with the bird house but not sure how i would make the bird on the perch. im thinking if i make the bird from fondant/ gum paste it will be too heavy for the perch. how do i make the bird sit on the perch without falling off?

any advice will be appreciated thanks

I made a bird feeder like that.  I made a small perch and set the b ird against the cake w/it's legs on the perch.  That way the cake is actually holding the bird  mostly.

There is a picture of it in my album - it might help you.

Oh, also once you shape the 'egg'/bird body,  let it dry maybe an hour or two then hollow out some of the gp to help lighten it.  where you do that is the back placed against the cake.
