Hello Guys. I am yet to find a real good vanilla cake recipe the stays moist but is good to be covered with fondant. I also want some opinions in cake fillings that would compliment the cake. What are some of your favorite cake/filling flavors. Even if it's chocolate cake, what fillings do you do or love most.
I like Joy Of Baking's Vanilla cake recipe. It's very versatile, for stacking and carving and cupcakes.
You can brush the cake with simple syrup to keep it moist.
My favorite filing for chocolate cake is whipped ganache. For vanilla I like white chocolate ganache, strawberry buttercream and vanilla buttercream.
Try the Mermaid Bakery vanilla cake. It's the best vanilla (yellow) cake I have ever tasted!
For chocolate cake, I like to use Nutella SMBC or pure chocolate SMBC.
