Hello everyone!! I've recently started cookie decorating (I know this is CAKEcentral, but I need help) and found Royal Icing to be very sweet. As much as I enjoy cookie decorating, I find it discouraging to not be able to eat my creations properly. My family and I ended up scraping as much of the icing off the cookies as possible so we could eat it, thus defeating the purpose of decorating it.
Is there an alternative? Something that is not so sweet. Some have suggested melting fondant or making a glaze but those are still really sugary. Any ideas? Thank you for your time (:
I use lemon juice instead of water. It does cut the sweetness with an actual flavor and peope often comment about loving the lemon over just sugar.
