Hi ladies, first time in here also a beginner at baking and so I have question. I am making my MIL a mothers day cake this saturday but not sure if leaving it uncovered on the counter until Sunday is a good idea, will it get dry or will  the buttercream turn ugly?  should I cover it? how do I store it?

What is in your buttercream and fillings, if you used fillings?  What is the temperature of the room?  Certain fillings and icing ingredients and cake types require refrigeration.    Do you have a cake storage container or dome?  Perhaps a box to store the cake in?

I have no problem leaving cake at room temp for that amount of time, but not uncovered.  I feel a plastic box retains moisture best.

And if no plastic box or container place boxed cake in a bag.
