I'm going to be doing some dummies for cake competition and was wondering which fondant would look good the longest. My mmf dummies eventually turned off white on me. I wanted to do dummies a few weeks ahead of time. Can anyone help? icon_confused.gif

I've used wilton's fondant, and it hasn't changed colors, and it's been on my cake for almost two years, and another cake for almost 1. If you have a 40% off micheals or joann coupon, it's a good buy.

Commercial fondants like Pettince and Satin Ice work well for competition cakes. Be careful of your other colors if you are using white. In some types of lighting white will look off-white. This particular thing has bitten me in the butt several times.

Pale colored cakes usually do well in competition and don't usually change color in different lights.

Homemade fondant works well too, but is usually eggshell white and not bright white.
