Hi all,

Im new here and I need some advice. My eldest sons birthday is a month away. Shud I start baking cake now? And which is the best time to thaw after freeze and put on fondant. Im also thinking to make some fondant figurines on top of cake. Shud I use fondant or gumpaste or both? And also which is the best time for me to start doing the figurines? Looking forward for.ur advice. Hav a good day.

Depending on the size of the figures, I would use fondant (with a bit of cmc or gumtex) or 50:50 mixed with gum paste. They'll need some time to dry but keep will till the birthday. Just store them at room temperature. I don't like freezing cakes if it's avoidable. The less time in the freezer the better, if you have to at all.
