Hi there,

Does anyone have any idea how to paint these gold dots?  I am looking for guidance on materials and technique.  Thank you!

Hello!

I'm no expert and I really hope those experienced ladies out there will give you some advice.

If it was up to me to make a cake like this, I would use a small round cutter or a round pastry nozzle of the desired size to gently emboss the circles onto the cake while the fondant is still soft (i.e. immediately once the cake is covered).

Then once the fondant is dry, I would use edible metallic gold paint and a fine paint brush to paint the embossed circles. One might have to paint once, wait until the paint dries and paint again to get a smooth, uniform finish. Might have to repeat the process until you are satisfied with the look and finish :)

Good luck with the cake! It really is quite lovely!!

I have seen it done two ways. Wafer paper and gold leaf put together then punched with a hole punch. OR....roll out fondant really thinly ...let dry and paint gold. There are a few tutorials online'
