Fondant Bows On A Cake.

I am making several gift box style cakes with fondant bows.  I wondered if the bows need to be removed from the cake prior to cutting the cake.  I am afraid they will crumble.

either way -- if gum paste yes remove but people sometimes like to eat the dry fondant because it's candy -- especially if you want to add some flavoring like raspberry oil or something -- and even without  additional flavor it's just a sweet pop of sugar --

Thanks!  I am adding flavoring to the fondant.  I just thought it might cause a mess when the cake was cut.  I appreciate your help.
