Any ideas on how to make the Serenity ship from the show Firefly?  I've never made a 3-D cake.  Not sure how to make the armature or if I even want to go there.  But thought I would ask the experts for some tips before I totally dismiss the idea!

I told my friend that I didn't think I could make it 3-D and she is fine with that.  My DH thinks I should do it as a flat layered fondant piece on a sheet cake.

I would appreciate any insights.  Thanks!

Here is a link, hope this works...

I think that your husband is correct, the Firefly class ship in a 3-d sculpture would take a skilled cake artist.  take a look at Corries Cakes for good ideas on making a scene on a sheet cake.... https://www.facebook.com/CorrieCakes?fref=pb&hc_location=profile_browser

and make sure that a buffer panel flies off somewhere........"Shiny!"

Yes... a buffer panel must be coming off or floating away from the ship...

Heck... I am the kind of person who would make sure I wrote the word "Shiny" on there somewhere...

Then again... I love my captain tight pants...
