I have been making more wedding cakes and am thinking about buying a cake plateau to rent out for the weddings.  Where would I look to get the best deal?  I want to make sure it is very sturdy since I know the first cake I will be using it on will be a 5-tier cake. How do you know how much weight they will hold?  I know Hobby Lobby has smaller ones but they seem to be very thin and cheaply made so I wouldn't trust putting very much weight on them.

  How large of one would you guys suggest?  I'm thinking 20" but not sure.  Should there we about a 2" at the least, between the cake board and the edge of the plateau?  So with a 20", I can go up to a cakeboard that is 18" and probably a 16" cake?
