Just wondering if anyones every made boston cream cake for a fondant covered cake, like perhaps a vanilla cake with a pudding filling drizzled with chocolate in the middle. Or if you think it will be to messy?

to me a boston cream pie (cake) is never fondant covered -- if it was fondant covered it would be a fondant covered vanilla cake filled with pastry cream and ganached -- i mean it's just words -- but boston cream pie means a certain thing visually too -- the fondant version would have to be kept cold -- yes it would be messy ;)
