Springform Vs Round Cake Pan

I honestly don't know the difference. I know spring form pans have that latch on them but other than that what is the difference?

AThe latch allows the sides to expand and the bottom to drop out from the sides. You use springforms to make cheesecake

They can also be used for layered tortes, where you're layering cake, mousse, cake, jam, cake, mousse, etc.Then you refrigerate them until them are very firm, unlatch the sides and slide them out.
