AI'm making a side lying minion cake- its 3 6in cakes and 1/2 a ball cake. I started it standing just like a normal stacked cake but I planned on laying on its side. Only now am I realizing I should not have stacked it 'up'. Is it going to crack open when I turn it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions and opinions!

I've done a lip stick lying on it's side.  It did not "crack" open.  However, I would suggests using ganache under fondant.  I used buttercream and you could see the indents between the layers due to it settling over time.

Good luck
