AI am making a laying on the board 3D hot air balloon cake. What would be the best to use as the suspension rope? I was thinking royal icing, but Im not sure of the mechanics of putting that together. Thanks for any help☺

you could even use buttercream, just pipe it -- or you could cut some edible paper strips or use real string even or embroidery floss or use fondant strings-- spaghetti or twizzlers or licorice

AYou can combine multiple pieces of floral wire, wrap the pieces together with floral tape, leaving enough on the bottom to spread like an octopus to anchor in the cake and cover with a piece of straw. Stick a bit of flower or gumpaste in the hole to brace the wires and cover the straw with fondant or gumpaste or royal icing. Hope this also helps. ValerieB
