Does anyone know of a way I can make my royal icing dry and harden a little faster?
I have tried a couple of different approaches, wasn't reall keen on either one. First, I thought like most things if I put them someplace warm they'd dry faster, so I tried the oven on very very low temp. That didn't seem to work. So next I tried in the freezer, well, that just froze them but didn't dry them and I had to worry about them sweating. I just put them up on a shelf out of harms way and let them dry. Maybe that's why they say to make them far enough in advance to have them ready!
Has anyone ever tried using a food dehydrator? I wonder if that would work...

another thing I need to try... royal icing... my husband will freak if I keep buying things to try for no reason! Guess I will have to get it like I do other things and throw it in the cart and just get it without telling him.

try setting the dish they are in on the heat register for a couple of hours...works great!!!
Another spin off of the heat register is... put the stuff on something like a cooling rack or a pan and place them on top of the oven while you are baking something. Or if your stove is electric and it has an excess heat vent, usually located on the back right burner, place it over that.
i've placed them under a desk lamp and that worked fine!
