ADoes anyone have experience painting on cakes but making it look kind of 3D? Id like to do a 3D poppy painting on a buttercream cake. Is that possible or does it need to be fondant? Any tips would be awesome

AI watched that video and totally think you can do it with butter cream. I would use a thinner butter cream for the red, and chill the cake. Then I would use vodka and food coloring for the shading, and chill again. Then I would use a thinner butter cream for the yellow, and pipe on the stems. I think it would work fine on a butter cream cake as long as you let it crust or chilled it first. Hope I helped. :-)
