A customer sent me a photo of a 6" & 10" cake with three large peony flowers sitting on the ledge of the cake (two on the bottom & one on top of the other two flowers). She wants me to do it in a 6" & 8" instead. She also wants me to make the peony flowers smaller.... is there such a thing as a small peony flower? I've never made one yet, this would be my first time, but out of all the tutorials I've seen they are always really big flowers.

AYou can make small peony flowers, but I still don't think the 1" ledge will be enough to support it.

Just use a small center for the flower and only a couple of petal layers. This is a great tutorial: http://cakejournal.com/tutorials/how-to-make-a-gum-paste-peony-part-1/
