Never used them before, should I buy a set of these bake even strips or should I just make my own with foil and wet paper towels? If I make my own, how do I attach so they are secure? Thanks!
you could use t-pins -- i've used all three, bake even strips, paper towels and cloth towels but i've never used any foil
I've made my own with foil before. To keep them together, I just use a paperclip (which works great). I haven't used the Bake Even strips, but they are on my list of things to buy.
how do you wet the foil? are there paper towels inside?
Yep, I take a paper towel, fold it up, wet it, stick it in some aluminum foil, fold the foil around it, and then secure the ends with paperclips (once its tight around the pan).
I have used wet strips of towels to extend my bake even strips for large pans, but overall I love my strips. You can use a coupon at AC Moore or Michaels and get them 40% off. I just like the ease of them, no rolling up towel strips, and/or wrapping with foil.
AI chopped up an old towel, wet it wrap it, secure with bulldog clip.
I was happy with the results.
