ASometimes, there just isn't any way to get the design you really want on the cake to pipe it...I've seen where some people use clear plastic sheeting and RI to make their mats, but these aren't usually reuse able! I use hot glue. I place the design I want under the clear plastic sheeting, outline on it with the hot glue, allow it to dry and then I have a reuse able impression mat, works great for me!
