AI am making a cake for the chief's birthday. I have seen tutorials on the helmet, but not the hose. I am trying to figure out how to make it look wrapped and wrinkly. Something like this.

AIt looks to me that the wrapped look on the top of the cake is just painted fondant. The hose is attached to the side we can't see in the pic. Maybe the fondant is 2 peices - one for the top (painted) and one wrapped around the side so the hose and side fondant is one piece.

You can make the hose wrinkled by getting the shape you want and holding it there with paper towels for a couple days to harden up.

AThank you! I think you are right about this. But others I have seen do look like layers of hose. Which is the look I want. Here's a better one.

I just made one of these for a grooms cake.

I made the wrapped look by putting a VERY thick coat of buttercream, on the top . After I covered it in fondant, working very quick I used one of my veining tools and created deep circular  ' valley's ' and  with my fingers pinched them to the shape I want them in the coil. After that I dusted with black luster dust to fill in the spaces and give it more depth.

I hope this helps.
