I'm a novice baker and want to attempt to make a sunshine cake using the Wilton soccer ball cake pan. I've seen lots of posts on how to bake the cake (325F, use a flower nail, shortening to grease etc.) but not much on the batter to use. Most posts say a 'dense' cake but without more detail. Others say one with more oil to help with the longer baking time.
So what constitutes a dense cake? Any suggestions for a vanilla or chocolate based recipe? I'd rather it be from scratch than a box mix.
