AHi, I am decorating my sister's wedding cake as a favour (first time I've done this!) and need a bit of advice. I have fruit cakes ready to make a 3 tier cake. Each of the tiers has 2 cakes to create a bit of height, but as a result there are ridges around the sides.
I'm covering with marzipan and fondant but I'm worried the ridges will still show. Can I use buttercream first to ensure a smooth finish?
I'm really inexperienced so any advice would be much appreciated!!!!
