How Do I Cover An Odd Shaped Cake In Fondant?

Hello everyone,

 

I am going to make a cake similar to the one shown below with a few changes. I am going to actually make the tail part be visible that is covered with water in the picture below. How do I go about covering a cake shaped like that in fondant? Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!

AThis shape is much easier to cover in fondant than a regular shape. Personally, I think the the way they did the tail is charming and would prefer it. Then it would be even easier.
