Can I use pourable ganache over top of a cake covered in set up 2:1 ratio chocolate ganache? Does the cake need to be cold before pouring? I am making a chocolate easter egg cake and I want it to have a very smooth look and they do not want fondant. Thanks for your help.

Did you ever do this? I want to make sure my sides are nice and straight and also wonder if I can do this?

Yes it worked out fine. I just put my ganache frosted cake in the fridge for about 20 minutes and then poured the pouring ganache over. Here is the result.Cake I made for my BIL girlfriend who loves Reese's Peanut Butter eggs (who dosnt!) Chocolate cake with peanut butter filling, ganache frosting with pored ganache over top! YUM YUM!!
