I was looking up buttercream recipes and this cupcake pop up. There is no recipe on the page but the blogger said it was Lemon flavored.

It doesnt look like the usual crusting buttercream, it seems custard like. Does anyone have a clue on what type this is? I would really appreciate it:-D

AIt looks like a meringue buttercream to me.

They are MUCH less sweet, silky smooth, and carry absolutely any flavor you could throw at them.

Google the blog post from FromScratchSF on Swiss Meringue Buttercream. It is the perfect place to start your SMBC pilgrimage.

AI agree. I make an IMBC and beat lemon curd into it. Yum!

Ok thanks everyone. I think I will go w/ Swiss since that is what fromscratchsf made a tutorial for. I've read great things about her blog.

I am thinking about making a blueberry buttercream.

It looks like a Swiss Meringue buttercream with lemon curd added.

That cupcake is from Miette of San Francisco. Here's the recipe: http://thefamilyfeed.com/2012/08/23/lemon-curd/
