ASo I'm new to fondant and all that and I'm going to make cupcakes for my sister'a birthday. She hates buttercream and I know you need something for the fondant to stick on to. Is there anything else I can use instead of buttercream?

ASwiss meringue buttercream! So yummy! Silky smooth and not too sweet, can be turned into any flavor you want.

AI second the ganache. Also can do custard, or a strawberry shortcake.

Another vote for ganache.  Remember you can do white chocolate ganache too, so it works with more flavors.  Also, I believe some people put a thin layer of jam or preserves under the fondant instead of buttercream.  I've never done it, but if you use the search box I bet you'll get a lot of posts about it.

AI think I'll go with the ganache. Thanks to everyone for responding!
