I have made some black flowers and the bottom petals keep falling off, made the icing thicker but this made it worse so made them extra thin, do you think it maybe because the icing is black and you have to add a larger amount of food colour and need more CMC because do not have a problem with the white flowers at all!!
added more cmc and still petals falling of the black ones.. not had one petal fall off all the white ones!!! ????
It's very hard to figure out exactly what you're asking here, as long as you don't say anything about what kind of flower you're making. Seeing as you mention CMC, I take it we're talking fondant/gumpaste flowers. But what kind? What size? Are they on a floral wire? How/when do the petals fall off - is it when you try to move the flowers? A pic of the flowers in question would be great also :-)
I have sent theses images of the flowers but unsure if you can open them..attached them in the usual way!! As you can hopefully see that I have many white flowers of which I had the same amount of black but over the last 3-4 weeks the black ones have deteriorated, some within a week others just recently. The flowers that are more closed was made the same time as the open ones and have lasted apart from one or two that have just fell apart in the last couple of days. I made them early as to iron out any problems that I may get as its for a wedding cake that I am charging for and dont want any mishaps. The cake has to be driven from Birmingham to Glasgow so need the flowers need to be spot on dont want to them to get there and all the petals have fell off. Hope you can help???
