Here is a sketch of the cake I will be doing for my cousins wedding. She is doing a book book theme. It is 4 tiers, not counting the open book. From bottom, 16", books-9x12", 9", 7" and then open book. And I can write something on the pages of the open book. The roses would be made out of icing sheets that I thought I could get printed like an old book page. She needs 200 servings. I figured this would serve 208. did  figure it right. And I am going to buy the fondant this time. Will 10lbs be enough or too much?  Thanks in advance for your help.

AUsing the Wilton charts, I come up with 204 wedding servings, not including the open book and needing about 13 lbs. of fondant, not including the open book.

Thank you! I was pretty close then. And thanks for the fondant amount too. I can never get it right. I am so excited about doing this! When I did my sketch I got out my cake pans and was stacking them to see how the sizes were going to work together. And I went and purchased an icing sheet to practice the roses. I think it is going to look great. I am also going to do a light brush gold on the book ends. Thanks again!

AHi Stefkovic, can't help with your questions, far too amateur for that! But I love books and I love cakes so this had really piqued my interest. What will you be writing on the open book? Has your cousin told you what she wants or can you choose? Need suggestions?

Hi maisie73, I was going to ask her if she wanted something special written on the open book. But no I really don't have any ideas yet on what to write. The wedding is at the end of June so we still have lots of time to figure it out. I will post a pic of my finished cake. Thanks

Well here it is. I was happy with everything but the books need a little work. And I should of tilted the top open book up more. I stacked the cake at the reception but how do you get the tiers stacked without messing up the bottoms? I need to learn from my mistakes. So I have more flowers then planned.

Looks great!  I don't know about the bottoms of the tiers- I struggle with that too!

AI'd be happy with that too, it looks like the sketch, the open book looks lovely. Was your cousin pleased?

AYes everyone loved it. Thank you. After I keep looking at pics I wish I would of just did two books. It looks a little out of proportion.

AYeah I see what you mean but to me it looks thin, thick, thin, thick, like that's how it's supposed to be. Stop looking at it and just be pleased. Everyone loved it, that's the main thing. Btw, I'm on my phone so I can't see close up but your edges look fine to me. I never get a cake on the board without spoiling it somewhere! :-)
