AI use two circles of foam core glued together and cling wrap stretched over- a bit of prit stick helps the cling wrap stick. it's far cheaper than those acrylic discs.

You can buy a good adjustable circle cutter too on ebay with an extension bar allowing you to cut huge circles.

I have found them at www.cakethings.com I ordered some that are .25 inches larger than my cakes and some that are .5 inches larger if I need more icing.  so far I have only done using buttercream have not tried Ganache yet but I love the upside down method and the acrylics!  so nice! and so easy!  I still need more practice but I love the method!

I also ordered two of each size from from www.cakethings.com (4 inches to 10 inches--1/8-inch thick).  I love them.  I've used both ganache and buttercream.  Mine are 1/4-inch larger and I find this perfect.  Delivery was quick and disks were inexpensive compared to our sites.

You can get them at The Vanilla Valley cake decorating shop here www.thevanillavalley.co.uk

They have a huge range of them in round and square and I think they ship worldwide.

Hope that helps :-)

Do you have kids?  Or know a teacher who works in/near a school DT department?  I bought a piece of acrylic sheet and gave it to a friend who works at a school who used their special cutter to cut it...fab result and cost a few pounds (and a beer the next time we met) ;-)
