Help Homeless Kids & Practice Decorating/baking Skills, Volunteer Opportunity
Decorating By AmbitiousBeginner Updated 6 Mar 2014 , 5:57pm by Sassyzan
I thought some people on here might be interested since I've read a few posts where people ask about how to practice their baking/decorating skills without getting people used to free cakes (or without gaining 40 pounds!) I did a web search to see if I could donate cakes and found: birthdaywishes.org
It's a nonprofit that organizes birthday parties for kids living in homeless shelters and they rely on donations. And of course one of the items that they always need is a birthday cake or cupcakes (along with all other party supplies)
For someone who wants to practice and not eat all the cakes or become known as the cheap cake lady, this could be a win win.
They are only in a few states (in the US) right now, but you might be lucky enough to live in one.
The organization is Birthday Wishes.
Hopefully I will be donating a cake for the first time next week! I'm waiting to here back from the local director.
And if you have kids, it's also a good opportunity to teach them about those less fortunate and a fun way to give back.
Just wanted to repost to give more people a chance to see original post. Thanks for looking.
