~~Hi all!

 

I just apply a unpaid internship, I send them my resume and pictures of the cakes I have done,

 

I got email come to  interview, after some questions and show them the pictures of cake I did from my

 

computer,  they ask me to sign the Employee No-disclosure agreement, but I'm thinking am I employee

 

or  intern?? or all the cake studios are doing this?  and why

 

also

 

I tell them, I am unviable to work on Saturday, possible  work on Sunday instead, they said " we need you

 

on Saturday, we don't need you on Sunday."  so is that  intern will be doing same job like the  paid

 

employee, and need to work any day they ask for??  ( if someone hire intern requires to have lots cake

 

experience and need to see all the cake pictures can approved level of  skills, it looks like looking for

 

unpaid employee or intern)

 

 

since it is my first time to do intern, so kind of confused!!!!   

 

help would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AI have only seen interns as unpaid employees. Start on the dishes and work toward icing and filling, then fondant work.

AOtherwise it is just free learning. You have to sacrifice to a certain extent to further your skills.

AI worked in a bakery..it wasn't free but damn near. Its grunt work and its hard. I grew up with a cleaning lady, and I was in there washing dishes and mopping floors. And I had a bachelor's degree at the time.

You'll work long hours probably, and won't get to do the "fun stuff" but the experience is immeasurable. Seriously. If you're serious about this you should take the internship paid or not. And sign whatever they give you (within reason)

They are telling you up front you will need to work Saturdays.  They are not going to let you work on Sundays instead.  If you can't work Saturdays then you shouldn't apply for the job.  Don't waste your time and theirs.
