ADoesn't the lint from the burlap get on the cake? I have seen several cake photos of burlap on buttercream wedding cakes and I wonderi if anyone here has used it or knows how to avoid getting the lint in the buttercream.

AYes it does, those people are crazy. But, there is "high end" "burlap" that doesn't shed, and of course SugarVeil makes a mold where you can make sugar burlap. Some people tape the back of it, to keep all the hairs off the tier behind it, but I imagine they still fall on the lower tiers.

AThanks annabakescakes, that helps a lot. I am thinking the sugar veil is a great idea but it might not look real enough for me. I will check into it and the high end burlap that hopefully doesn't shed.

AGross, huh? Burlap is stinky, and it sheds. Shouldn't be anywhere near a cake.

"How do I put burlap on a wedding cake?"

First, you to the garage, grab one of the burlap bags off the floor, remove all the potatoes, shake the garden dirt off the bag, put it on a cake.    or not.
