I just received a request for this cake and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I should use to support the cake and act as the stem of the glass.

Dont know if you got your answer, but it looks like a pvc pipe for the stem.  That's how I would do it.  Then I would put the cake on a heavy plastic cake plate and glue it on to the pipe.

AOh wow ok I didn't think of that Thanks Do u think a hot glue gun would do the job?

AHi

We hv dn this before. Take your cake drum cut a hole in it where the pipe would fit in and hot glue it. You can then use rk treats or fondant to build the base of the glass around the pipe.
