I have an order for a butterfly themed cake made out of buttercream. Any ideas as to what I could make?
I'm sorry, but I don't understand how people take orders without quoting a price and agreeing on a design? If you're new to this, I would suggest not accepting an order this way. I have one customer who will give me a price and then say, come up with something great for that amount. He is a long time customer and I do about 3 cakes a year for him, so I know pretty well what's going to "wow" him. And I know he wants to be surprised - and even with all that, I don't especially like doing it this way. I'm only doing it to make the customer happy and this is his personality.
If it's a new customer, I wouldn't dream of accepting an order this way. It's just asking for trouble. I'd come up with a detailed description, using photos of other cakes or a sketch for their approval before accepting the order.
This is such a broad question. For ideas, I recommend googling butterfly cake and see what comes up.
AI havent yet confirmed anything. The discussion is about designs and what works for the customer and what doesn't.
I have googled butterfly cakes. Thats the first thing anyone would do. I posted it here because there are some very helpful people here who have far more experience than myself.
However I'm sorry if my post worked you up so much!
Thanks for your input.
AI wasn't worked up. So many people read stuff into things. I was trying to help you.
Edit: I reread my post and it's a real stretch to get "worked up" out of what I said. I'm a little annoyed that you'd suggest I was worked up. There's no need to stretch annoyed into anything beyond what it is. I don't mean freaked out or upset. Just annoyed
My favorite butterfly cakes are the ones which have the same colored butterflies swirled down the tiers of a simple fondant or buttercream cake with a few butterflies placed here and there on the cake. There is a tutorial on CC re: realistic edible butterflies.
Chocolate butterflies are pretty.
