I have been asked to make a wedding cake similar to this one. How do I make the lace pattern on this cake? It looks like fondant? Here is the cake...

I found this mold on Amazon (for the top tier). It looks a lot like the lace pattern on the top cake, if not exactly like it...

http://www.amazon.com/Wholeport-Silicone-Embossing-Fondant-Decoration/dp/B00EJ9KHZG/ref=sr_1_5/192-7051470-4245347?ie=UTF8&qid=1389790447&sr=8-5&keywords=fondant+lace+mold

Now I'm having trouble finding the exact mold that was used on the bottom tier. Anyone have any idea where I can find it?

The lace on the cake is Sugar Veil, and the patterns you see on the cake are made by spreading Sugar Veil on their special mats. The sugar veil icing dries and produces edible lace which you have to place on the cake like the picture.

Check out the website for Sugar Veil and you can get info on ordering and using it.

The top design is not Sugar Veil brand, but is intended to be used with the Sugar Veil product. This says Wholeport. I spent some time a couple of days ago searching the different silicone lace molds and there are many beautiful molds coming from China for use with Sugar Veil and Cake Lace (another similar product). If you search for sugar lace, the results will surprise you.

I purchased my cake lace mats from global sugar art, no international charges. I also got my sugar veil mats from them, and I love, love, love the mats, and gsa.

Try this link. I went to molds, then onlays and silicone lace mats. Take a look:

I bought the large orange mats and love them. They do work. To set them in the oven I laid them on a  large cookie sheet. They are too wide to fit on an average sized cookie sheet.
