ADo you think that a filling other than butter cream would ok? I've never done over and I don't want it to be a disaster.
Yes...but I think whatever you use...it needs to not clash with the colored layers of the cake.

Mareg...you need to advise them what will.....or will not work with that cake. For example, with all those colors, I would not recommend a raspberry filling...or turtle. You need to have a strong opinion with them if they pick something whacky.
AI made this cake last night. Even though I used chocolate ganache for the outside. I decided the layers needed to be white buttercream. The white is what makes the colors pop. It is a pretty large cake when all the layers are applied. The buttercream is stable and reliable. It seems to me any other filling would make it unstable.
