Hi everyone!
Ended up helping a friend with an event tonight and got stuck there till 11pm PST. Hope everyone's week has gone well. My only projects have been pies and chocolate work! Hope to see some cake photos when I wake tomorrow morning!

I love the tree also. I made my cake a couple of weeks ago but have only just got around to posting.
Had sooooo much fun doing this copy of the Paul Bradford mountain crash. I had Santa stuck on a deserted island with rudolph, and surrounded by sharks last year so I am thinking of continuing the 'Disaster Santa' theme again next year. It is so much fun.
Oh my gosh the cakes are wonderful!
Boyka, your snowflakes are beautiful but it's the snowmen on the other cake that took my heart! The whole cake is just sweet and charming!
Cazza, I'm still laughing at your reindeer in the snowbank! OMG...that's too funny! I do love the simplicity of the first cake and realize that I tend to over complicate my Christmas cakes...you kept it simple and look how wonderful it is! Gotta remember that!
No Christmas cakes for me other than the ones going in the gift baskets. We are doing pies this year. I did a banana cream last night for our first Holiday dinner and the hostess nearly licked the pan! It was a hit. I have a pumpkin and chocolate praline coming up for two other dinners this week as well.
Speaking of that...we are having our Christmas over this next weekend (just a small "us" celebration on the day) where all the kids and siblings are coming down so I won't be able to be here on Friday night until quite late again but I WILL open up the FNCC early before we head off to our family dinner and check back in when we get back home again.
Have a wonderful week and for those who celebrated MERRY CHRISTMAS! We celebrate Kwanzaa too so for those who may do so as well, Happy Kwanzaa!
love

boyka--i love the trees--the little snow people are genuinely adorable--a beautiful blend of fantasy and winter beauty--
cazza--that's a riot--i love the reindeer butts! such beautiful work--can't wait for next year's disastrous/lovely contribution--
ABoyka I love the trees!! I have a frozen themed cake in a few weeks and want to do some snow covered trees myself hope they come out as nice as yours!! My cake this week was for a co-workers going away, it was really fun because I got to do a lot of firsts for me and challenge myself! I did ganache instead of buttercream for the first time-tricky I need some practice! Airbrushing - which was fun need a gun with a smaller needle but definitely will be playing with this medium more!! And I made my own mold for the studs on the cake which was so awesome!!!! Found a recipe for food grade mold by blwilley here and it worked like a charm!! [IMG ALT="Going away cake made for a co-worker. BBoyka, I think your cake is amazing! I love all the details.
I only had one wee cake to do this week, for my Dad's 70th. It was just a little family gathering as the main party will be later when everyone isn't busy with Christmas stuff. I was rather disappointed with how uneven it turned out, but I was feeling unwell and ran out of time and bothered-ness. He didn't notice or mind, but it bothers me now! My dad loves reading books about Napoleon-era ship warfare, so I thought I'd try to capture the essence of a ship in the cake. It was quite hard doing it with a fruit cake, decorating with marzipan, and with such a small cake (4" and 3" tiers).
