AI set myself a wee challenge for a display next year: 3D cakes depicting jokes!

I thought it would be pretty easy to select a few jokes to cake... alas I am a little stumped!!

If you have any suggestions I'd be hugely grateful! Clean if you can but the only funny one which I think most people will get is the "12 inch pianist" joke!

The only clean one that works(ish) for me so far is an elephant in a strained fridge with 'footprints in the butter'...

Well, you could do the classic "dirty" joke...a white horse fell in the mud.  LOL.

Ooh I like that one :-)

I also think the "2 fish in a tank" one could work...

A hartebeest walks into a bar. Bartender asks, "Hey, why the long face?"

Why did the young organ student wear cropped pants to her first lesson? They were pedal-pushers.

How about the Pythagorean theorem as explained by the joke :

There was an Indian Chief, and he had three squaws, and kept them in
three teepees. When he would come home late from hunting, he would not
know which teepee contained which squaw, being dark and all. He went
hunting one day, and killed a hippopotamus, a bear, and a buffalo. He
put the a hide from each animal into a different teepee, so that when
he came home late, he could feel inside the teepee and he would know
which squaw was inside.

Well after about a year, all three squaws had children. The squaw
on the bear had a baby boy, the squaw on the buffalo hide had a baby
girl. But the squaw on the hippopotamus had a girl and a boy. So what is
the moral of the story?

The son of the squaw on the hippopotamus is equal to the sons of the squaws on the other two hides.

The sum of the square of the hypoteneuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

(I think that's right.)

[In no way am I denigrating Native Americans.]

Leg squared + leg squared = hypotenuse square (root). That's how I remember it.

What about the classic prank call - 'RING RING RING RING' 'Hello' 'is your fridge running?' 'yes' 'well you better go catch it' you could have someone answering a phone on one half of the cake and the same person in a running position holding a great big fishing net chasing a fridge on four legs on the other half of the cake. Not really a joke I guess but a lot of people would understand it and find it amusing I would think.

Anything from Gary Larson and his "Far Side" cartoons

A few years ago I entered a competition where the theme was "Earth Laughs in Flowers". I made a cake depicting the joke "What do you call a country where everyone drives pink cars?" A pink car nation (featuring a basket of pink gumpaste carnations)! The judges didn't get the joke but it was fun. Forgive my cake, I was still very inexperienced when I did this one .

What a lovely cake! ...I guess my fear is that not everyone will get the joke....

Ok, this is one everyone will get, but I've put the others in parentheses just in case.

A guy walks into a bar.  Ouch.

Or...

Two peanuts were walking down the road.  One was assaulted (a salted).

Or...

Did you hear about the fire at the circus?  It was intense (in tents).

Or...

A mushroom walks into a bar.  The bartender says I'm not serving you!  The mushroom says, come on, I'm a fun guy (fungi).

I'm on fire today ya'll.  Watch out.

Crazy-Gray Posted 13 Dec 2013 , 2:26pm

Aooh ooh Annie your circus one made me think of:

'two cannibals were eating a clown, one says to the other "does this taste funny to you?"'

...I could do a bar jokes cake, a different bar joke on each side- that would make the 'ouch' one even funnier!

This is great fun thank you!

kkmcmahan Posted 13 Dec 2013 , 2:50pm

I have a couple, not so much a joke but funny 'thank you' cakes.

1) several gum paste sheep in various drunken states (some passed out, some slumped over a chair) with little bottles laying around.  The caption would read...'Many, Many Tanked Ewes'

2) several gum paste donkeys in a row, holding hands.  The caption would read...'Thank you, or as they say in Germany...Donkey Chain'

You could also do a cake that has mickey mouse and donald duck on it.  The caption would read 'what mouse walks on 2 legs...mickey' The next caption would read 'what duck walks on 2 legs ...?'  Most people will want to say donald but they would be wrong.  The answer is ALL ducks.

AnnieCahill Posted 13 Dec 2013 , 3:45pm

Love the cannibal joke!  I'm excited to see what you come up with.

One of my favorites is the deer (gazelle? antelope? wildebeest?) in the field and on the knoll watching them is a cheetah putting on running shoes.
