Hi there,

I loved making the WASC cake and everyone raved about it. I tried the trick of adding in the extra cake mix to make a 16.5 oz mix an 18.25 oz mix but it didn't turn out great in my opinion. The cake was dense and sticky. Does anyone have any other ideas? I felt like the WASC cake was fairly cheap to make. Does anyone have any tried and true white cake recipes that are reasonable to make too? Thanks so much!

I really like FromScratchSF's recipe (Michelle), there's a link in this thread to her website. She goes through the steps and the reason behind them, her BC recipe is really good too.

I have used my *original* WASC recipe with NO changes in a 9x13x2 pan and had great luck with it.  If the resulting cake is stickyt on the top just bake it a few minutes longer .  What I do is turn off the oven but let the cake 'rest' inside for another 5 minutes.

I've been adding 3 oz. per cake mix of extra dry mix [so 6 oz. total for the standard WASC recipe] and they've been turning out perfectly.

AI add extra 1/3 cup from another box and just save that box for my "extra"

........ 6 oz. total for the standard WASC recipe......

A 'standard WASC recipe uses only one cake mix - not two :(

Not for me.  My "standard" is the 2 mix version and when I make a "half recipe" I use one mix.
