Two days ago, I had a lady call about a small, very plain  wedding cake for ''this'' Saturday!  Only 5 day's notice.    I gave her a price of only $125.00 for #36.  She said no, she didn't want to spend that much money for her daughters second marriage.

When I listened to my machine last night she was on again,  asking if she could borrow a few pans, plates and just a couple tips so she could try to make the cake herself!

Some might say it's bad business not to return a phone call, but I think there are some calls that don't need, or aren't worth the time to be returned.

ARing her back and say "sure, that will be a $125.00 rental fee, thanks!"...

AOr $200 with $150 returned on return of the pans (clean and undamaged) maybe?

I took my number off my website and put an enquiry form on instead, saves so much trouble!

The bare-faced cheek of it.

No, I absolutely WOULD NOT reply to that phone message.

AI'd offer to rent them to her. Every penny would be profit, as opposed to the small profit you'd have made on the cake. And with none of the work!

She realizes that cake equipment is expensive, so she wants to borrow yours, yet she won't compensate you accordingly.  Isn't that nice…!!???

Well, you could definitely rent the equipment.  Why have a cake for her daughter anyways if she is going to be so cheap about it.

This person definitely doesn't deserve a return phone call and its not bad business since you aren't getting any business from her but I would return her call just because that kind of request just makes me mad.  The gall of this person to not want to spend such a little amount of money and then asking to borrow your equipment so she can make it is just crazy.  I am sure she found out how much is will be to buy all the things need to make the cake.  I would call her back and tell her she can rent your stuff and charge whatever you want to.
