Would like to make an open Tiffany box cake for my daughter's 50th bday... not sure how to make the top of the box.  Some that I have seen on this site look as though it is just another 1" cake made and covered and then put on top... are there any other options that I could use.  I am not a professional - just make cakes for my family.  Thanks for any suggestions

AI made a choc box cake covered in fondant and filled with ferrero chocs. For the lid, I just used a cake board covered in fondant. Used a stencil just to pretty the lid up and painted it. Hope this helps

Thanks, a friend suggested that I make it out of rice krispie pressed into the cake tin so I now have two ideas to work with.

You can also by 1" pieces of styrofoam.  The dollar tree, walmart & Hobby Lobby sells 1" square pieces.  Then you don't have to hassle with the RKT.

I used a large matzoh covered with fondant to make a lid for a jewelry box for family.  They ate that too!

Good luck!
