I have fondant at home. I also have Wilton's canister of powdered Gum Tex. If I add the gum tex to the fondant is the resulting product the same as gum paste?

Similar, it will harden the gum paste the same way as Tylose.

I do this all the time to make gum paste with the same results as a recipe.  It's a slightly different consistency so you have to experiment a bit but it does work.
