Hello,  I have just been asked by one of my customers if I could ship a fondant wrapped (small) birthday cake to her husband in Afghanistan.  Ship time takes 7-10 days. Obviously no decorations on it, but I always do his cakes for his birthday, & this is his first year away so she wants him to be able to at least taste his birthday cake, lol.  How possible is it to ship & how would I go about wrapping/packaging it?  I would use a box mix since they stay moist longer than cakes from scratch.  And maybe it isn't possible or feasible, but all comments are welcome.  Thanks so much!

Would a fruit cake be a possibility?  They last much longer and are far sturdier for transit.

AJust a heads up when i spoke to fedex about shipping they advised me that all shipments go through a belt and everything gets thrown in turning upside down and our cakes would get destroyed and that we would have to pay for special handling, and thats just in the same city. Check with the courier.
