Thanks Jason - I didn't think it was much different in calories vs. cane sugar.

P.S. Made me think of the Seinfeld with frozen yogurt - supposed to be fat free but they were all gaining weight eating it . . .
a very seinfeld moment-too funny in a pathetic sort of way
-i was looking at all the 'sugar free' stevaspledasugaritol shelf at the store and i was shocked to see coconut sugar --i was mesmerized by the coolness of it just like the yogurt --shades of deja vu--and i forgot to check the calories!--dang it--my husband's got a bunch of cheesecake minis alll to himself--he rides his bike about 100 miles a week--so he can handle it.
but i made the lime curd with the truvia--hahahaha--i don't need any cheesecake with my lime curd --
i've lost over 40 pounds so far..".no soup cheesecake for you me!"
i'll be back with a report on the monk fruit in the raw--stay tuned...see if i get this one right...it's probably gonna taste like poo 'cause it's 0 calorie...tbc...
omg--i've totally screwed this up--even worse--the never ending f up
the monk fruit in the raw has the dextrose, monk fruit extract and zero calories* per packet
*each packet contains less than 3 calories per serving which the FDA considers dietetically zero
and the coconut sugar is just organic granulated coconut nectar and is it 15 calories per teaspoon
it is produced from the flower buds of the coconut tree and has naturally occuring magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron, b vitamins and amino acids--ooh i need my vitamins today--gotta eat me some cheeseycakes ;)
don't take my flakey word for it--i took pictures!
give me a little more time i'm sure i can eff this up more ;)
and i tasted the monk fruit product and it is pretty sweet--i'll put it in my coffee in the morning
(that btw my husband makes for me--just sayin' ;)
It's just all too much to keep track of! Doesn't help that they round down on those calories. :(
You have got to feel bad for diabetics who have to wade through all those things that look like substitutes, but might have the same results for them as cane sugar does.

yes, liz, it is a quagmire--very confusing--and yes those calories are there but they're not? srsly? idk--
so btw- the monk fruit in the raw usage equivalent is one packet equals 2 teaspoons of sugar --the coconut is a 1:1 usage ratio with sugar--
and so as to my coffee the monk fruit is good in the coffee -- i'm not encouraged to try & bake with fruit--it tends to clump--the truvia works good--
and i'm not saying the truvia is a healthier product i'm just saying it's working for my particular weight loss needs to make me some goodies a few times a week--
