i've been trying to find the recipe that the bakery here uses, it's like boiled icing, but its thick and grainy like buttercream, it also crusts if left out for too long. if anyone has any idea please answer, thank you!!!!!

AWhere are you located? That may help people be able to answer if it is a regional thing.
You can just use egg whites in place of meringue powder. Just have to do stove top method and not microwave
