Do You Cut The Tops Off Of Cupcakes To Make Cc Cakes?

AI am making my first cupcake cake today and my cc's came out domed. Should I cut the tops of to even them out or just use a lot of icing?

Either way. It might be a pain to cut them off, but if you don't want to use 700 pounds of frosting, cutting would probably be better.

AThank you. I think I will cut them as opposed to using all of that frosting.
