ACool. You wouldn't be able to do very large cakes though... but sure beats other alternatives.

I wouldn't never give up my agbay though. :-D

I have a couple of very long knives, but they'd only work up to about a 11" cake. No, I don't think anyone would argue the value of an Agbay! I don't personally don't have a need for one, or these, but looks interesting.

Wow -- so smart for only $6. This would blow other low price levelers out of the water.

AThe lack of a handle though would make it more awkward I'd think...

It could, although it might depend on how/what you learned to level or torte. I still use toothpicks and a knife  old school, I know..but I'm saving for an agbay!!

AI just bought a "serious" leveler ... As opposed to the cheapo Wilton wire thing that I had been using. I LOVE it! It wasn't cheap, about $200 for the double blade set up but still not as expensive as Agbay. The shop I bought it from has an online store as well www.caroline'

I still am using the leveler I made which is very similar in function and design to the one posted by MustangMollie. It works perfectly and it cost MUCH less than either Agbay or the one above.

Mollie, do the adjustments slide?

AYes, the adjustments slide and I can add more or remove blades. One of the best things is that the company stands behind their products. They manufacture it along with other tools and they always say that if I'm not happy with one of their products or if I just don't like it they'll give me my money back (they are not required by law to give 'change of mind' returns or exchanges). Plus they're really great about offering advice and answering questions :)

ASassyzan, it is called E Z cake leveler. I watched the video several times yesterday but the link no longer works today. Maybe they are sold out. I tried to Google it but couldn't find it anywhere else. Hopefully they will restock. It's a great idea!

AI emailed them and received this response:

"Our inventory of EZ Cake Levelers sold out much sooner than anticipated. We placed another order with the manufacturer, but unfortunately they won't be in until the end of October."

AThey are in stock again! My order was about $8 including shipping.

AZCouture: Well ain't that just the cutest little thing.  The width is only limited by the length of your own knife.  ( Just like the 8" wide stainless bench scraper you posted, you find some cool stuff.)

That's pretty cool! I just cut my cakes with a long knife, but I might try one of those to see if I might ever want to spring for an Agbay. I love that it doesn't take up much space. Thanks for sharing that :D
