AI was wondering if anybody has made both the Hershey chocolate cake recipe that comes on the back if the cocoa powder box and the Black Magic chocolate cake from Allrecipes and which do you like better and why?
I've made both bc I was curious what the difference would be but I couldn't tell much of a difference at all. I prefer the one on the back of the cocoa box bc I'm used to it - taste wise there were much of the same.
I totally agree. I've made both and couldn't see a dime's worth of difference. The only thing I change on the recipe from the can is: sub buttermilk for the milk and sub hot coffee for the hot water.
I love the flavor of the Black Magic cake. But it is so moist it practically falls apart on me. I thought I read on a thread that some people add extra flour. I can't find the thread now. Do any of you have experience with this.
ALove Black Magic because the flavor is so deep. It is very soft though, if you mix at a higher speed a little bit longer it will develop more gluten and it will hold together better.
Use only 1 teaspoon each, baking soda and baking powder. Use 2 cups flour and cut coffee down to 1/2 cup. (Or cut buttermilk instead of coffee.)
