Help, Help, Help!. O.K. is that enough melodrama? Sometime in the last 10 months one of the regulars posted a picture of the most brilliant sandwich cake (Lots of ego stroking there) I have ever seen in one of the threads. I have looked through so many threads and pictures it is not funny and I am going nuts trying to find it. Would the culprit please put me out of my misery and post it on here for me so that I can plagiarize the idea for my darling hubbies birthday next week.
I think you need to contact AZcouture. She is the master who created this spectacular cake. Gosh, it even looks like cracked wheat bread!

Hope this saves your sanity.

AHa! You know that is by far the easiest dang cake I have ever made? Definitely make banana cake to give it that wheat bread look. Some chopped nuts would probably be a nice touch too.
AI used a six inch square pan, with part of it walled off with aluminum foil, cause I needed to make it close to actual real bread size, and needed the edge crust intact for realism. As soon as it came out of the oven, I pinched in an indentation in the appropriate spot and smushed the end of it round, and later torted it, and flipped the two halves upside down so you didn't see the top or bottom crust. Since it was more for a joke, for the groom, I wasn't real concerned about it drying out, and I know it didn't much anyways, very tender cake. I presented it on a cheesy plastic plate and all.
Thanks for the pic milkmaid and extra thanks to you, AZ (may I be familiar and call you that?) for all the instructions. Hubby would rather eat salad rolls and sandwhiches than anything in the world, I think, so I don't care if it dries out, I am just going for the effect.
AAhhhh, kick a$$! I love it! I'm definitely making darker bread next time. Maybe a walnut and banana cake, with brown sugar...darken it up a bit. Wasn't that an easy cake to make?? And no fake effects too. No airbrushed fondant, nothing. Just realness!
Also a slice of roast beef under the cheese. Probably the easiest and quickest cake I have ever made.
AFor real. I'm thinking of adding this to my everyday menu, just to be able to offer something quirky and quick. I don't think I've ever seen a sandwich cake available for quick order. ;-)
Awesome cake AZ, love it. Was just wondering today about making a baguette cake with cheese, lettuce, olives, pickles and cucumbers for my sons birthday in january. It's his favorite food but I can't work out how to make the baguette so may go with your sandwich which looks brilliant unless you or anyone else on here has any idea of how to make a baguette? especially the 'lid' if you know what I mean - at a slant, although I guess I could make it in 2 halves now that I think it over having seen your photo
AI'd get a real one maybe, and put it in the oven and bake it till it's brick hard, and shape aluminum foil around it for a custom cake pan. That way you get the shape and the brown crust.
